Anastasia is a finalist of the 2016 I Want to Go to Artek contest (the contest is organized by the Artek International Children’s Center in cooperation with Russian Post). Anastasia and her brother have lost their mother. The children are living with their grandmother, who is their guardian, and their grandfather. “My brother and I do our best to help them. Because if they die, we will have no one at all… I like to imagine the sea. It is clear, blue like the sky, and big waves are rising. I hope that my letter will touch your heart. Because I want to go to Artek so much. There must be something good in my life,” writes Anastasia in her letter.
Her dream came true thanks to Artek’s partner – the QIWI company and Margarita Kostyurina. Margarita won QIWI’s contest on financial literacy, The FINTEEN Hero, and got a voucher for a vacation in Artek. She decided to give this voucher to one of the kids whose story she found on Artek Miloserdie website. She was especially touched by Anastasia’s story.
“Thank you so much, Artek and all the counselors! It is the best children’s camp. I wish Artek and all those kind people who have helped me to get here happiness and prosperity. Especially memorable were the New Wave International Young Pop Singer Competition and the national round for Eurovision. I’ve never thought that I would see so many famous singers live! At Mountain Club classes, we hiked up Ayu-Dag (Bear Mountain), and learned how to tie camping knots. Here I also learned the importance of self-possession and perseverance for achieving goals. That’s a lesson I will need in life: I am going to finish the ninth grade and go to a medical college” says Anastasia.
