Ayu-Dag translated from Turkic – "Bear mountain" or "bear forest." Italian sailors saw in his outline of a camel – Camello. There is a theory that the mountain was called AI-Dag (from the Greek ay – Holy, Holy; Dag – mountain), as evidenced by the remains of the Foundation of the Basilica – a medieval Church.

First his descriptions were academicians P. S. Pallas (1793) and P. I. Keppen (1837). In the IV century BC - IV century ad the Western slope of the mountain Ayu-Dag and the tract was occupied by the Osman brand. About their origin there are different hypotheses.

The formation of the Taurus culture took place at the turn of the bronze and iron ages, development in the iron age.

Data on brands left different ancient historians, the most thorough – the "father of history" Herodotus. He reports that the brand was engaged in animal husbandry, agriculture, mainly the hoe, hunting, coastal fishing. As shown by the fossil record, they used not only a metal (bronze), and stone tools. This nation was already sufficiently developed crafts: pottery, weaving, wood, bone, metal and stone.

As a result of archaeological excavations on Ayu-Dag (from Partenit) discovered the wreckage of the Taurus ceramic vessels, coarse features.

  • In 1969, on the saddle of Ayu-Dag archaeologists found the remains of the Taurus dwellings and fortifications.
  • In 1947 Ayu-Dag was declared a natural monument of local importance, again in 1960.
  • Since 1974, Ayu-Dag is a landscape reserve of national importance.

The first owner of the estate on the territory of ICC "Artek" in the nineteenth century was count Gustaf Olizar, the land they purchased from locals.

Gustav Philipp
Olisar (1798 - 1865)

Earl, poet, memoirist and public figure – was part of the Polish Patriotic society, was involved in the case of the Decembrists.

Stay in the name of "Medicine of the heart" (a complex of children's camps "Mountain") from December 1824 to January 1826.

In December 1824 Gustav acquired from local residents a plot of land in ¾ of a tithe ( 1 desyatina is 1.09 hectares) for 2 rubles silver.

He began to buy land, increased his possession to 200 acres, on which he built a vineyard and olive grove. Erected farm buildings and surrounded by a wall his possession which was evaluated in 80 thousand roubles.

"Secluded anchorite of the Ayu-Dag" - so called himself, Alizar, and gave her possession of the Greek name "Cardiotech", which means "medicine of the heart".

Gustav Olizar stayed interesting people: Adam Mickiewicz and A. S. Griboedov.

Adam Mickiewicz
(1798 – 1855)

Polish poet

Adam Mickiewicz was raised to the top of Ayu-Dag. Amazed by the beauty of nature Miscavige expressed his feelings in the famous "Crimean sonnets" (sonnet — poem of 14 verses, is constructed of 2 quatrains and 2 treastise) "Ayu-Dag", which presented Olizaru. Stay in the estate "Cardiotech" summer of 1825 (the house opposite the children's camp "Diamond").

"Crimean sonnets" was struck by the Russian reader with the splendor of the landscape paintings, the lyricism, the way the hero of "pilgrim", about longing abandoned homeland, and the new Polish poetry Oriental motifs. Sonnets made the name of a young Polish poet known in Russia.

Pleasure to me, Ayu-Dag, to monitor your stones
Black as the shaft goes, clubs and growing
Fall , boil, and silver shining,
Scattered large rain of iridescent lights.
Both run across chestnet even stronger
And the waves from it, as fish is a huge pack,
Capture stranded and once again rolled to the edge,
Leaving a pebble, pearl and coral on it.
Don't you, young bard, love storm fly
Rush to your chest, close the sky and dark cloud
But the money you take-and again the blue light.
Not overshadowed your world, the storm is otbelivala,
And the only songs we have from flurry –
The crown of immortality for your BROW.

Alexander
Griboedov (1795 – 1829)

Stay in the Crimea, from June 18 to September 15, 1825, in the name of "Cardiotech" summer of 1825 (the house opposite the children's camp "Diamond").

Some historians believe that the house Alizar in Artek, there was a meeting of Alexander Griboyedov with the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz.

The meeting was clandestine in nature: four months before the uprising on Senate square, Griboyedov left or destroyed written evidence of this.

With a greater degree of certainty about the fact of meeting with Griboedov Polish researchers write the biography of Adam Mickiewicz.

In 1832 Gustave Olizar sold part of his estate to A. M. Potemkin.
